Mercedes-Maybach S600 drives in priced at Rs 1.70 Crore!

Mercedes' luxury line Maybach is no new thing for Indian market, launched first in 2004, parent company Mercedes pulled the plug on this staggeringly high priced brand. Cut to 2011, Mercedes brought back Maybach to India but just like before it could not get many takers and was removed not only from the Indian market but was phased out globally. Back from the ashes, Maybach is all set to spell magic on Indian customers.

This time however, the Maybach badge doesn't ornate the rear alone, the Mercedes badge is very much visible on the S600 launched today in India. Mercedes-Maybach S600 is essentially a changed version of longer wheelbase S-Class boasting elevated dimensions. Cosmetic changes are evident on the outside; a longer wheelbase translates into an even bigger cabin having abundant space on offer. New hardware implies improved performance which takes the driving pleasure to a new level altogether.

How's it on the outside? As discussed earlier the S600 is a munificent looking sedan in terms of dimensions measuring tangibly longer and higher than the standard version. Front gets new radiator grille featuring additional chrome slats. There is a lot of chrome evident on the outside, but thankfully it doesn't appear overdone. Chrome trims are visible all around the bottom and also on the window frame as well as boot lid. Rest of the styling is done in typical Mercedes fashion quite akin to the standard model. One of the other highlights of the exteriors is tapering rear and cascading windscreen that joins smoothly with the roof and boot. There is a sunroof and a moonroof with photo chromatic glass.

How does the cabin look?
A longer wheelbase measuring 207mm longer indicates a substantial increase in space inside. There is ample room for occupants seated in front as well as rear. Legroom, is huge at especially at the back, and seats can now be reclined fully courtesy the increased wheelbase. There is an exclusive entertainment system for rear passengers but it seems dated as well as small. Seats are draped in Nappa leather, besides leather trims along with several woods and other plush material can be spotted in abundance. Moreover, the air-conditioned, massaging and heated seats make cabin a snug space for passengers. Besides, there is a system that pumps scent, for entertainment of passengers a 1540 watt Burmester 3D surround sound system is incorporated along with 24 speakers.

Under the hood:
Mercedes has ditched the twin-turbo, V8 engine for an even more efficient 6.0 litre, twin-turbo, V12 engine. The mighty engine capacitating large displacement is capable of pulling off towering power output of 523 Bhp and pinnacle torque of 830 Nm. Transmission duties are performed by a seven-speed automatic gearbox. The engine is responsive and revs fast on a gentle push, there is no noise either which means a quieter cabin and almost no disturbance while driving.

Pleasurable performance:
Maybach is back with a vengeance and why not, after all it had been vamoosed for quite some time, hence the return had to be imposing. The capable 6.0 litre engine accelerates to 100 kmph mark from nil in lightning five second. Claimed top speed on offing is impressive too at 249 kmph. The effortless driving experience is something one can expect from a refined engine like the one housed in S600. Power supply is good, in fact you get even more than what you expect that the pleasure of driving S600.
