Healthy ways to eat non vegetarian foods!

Eating meat predominantly is not healthy. It may work for the Eskimos due to their harsh living conditions and having possibly genetically evolved to such eating habits, but for the general population and particularly Indians, it is unhealthy. It leads to high cholesterol, high risk of cancer especially colon, heart diseases, high blood pressure, high uric acid. Indians genetically have narrower blood vessels which could be the reason for their vulnerability for cardiovascular diseases.

Best ways to eat meat: Meat, fish and poultry has its health benefits so it would be wrong to shun them as bad foods. They are good sources of the best proteins, readily available iron, vitamins B12 and D apart from several other vitamins and minerals. Thus it can have good benefits if eaten in moderation, combined with plant foods and cooked the right way. Here below are some tips on how to get to eat meat with lesser risk for health problems.

• Choose the right meats: Fish is the healthiest of all non vegetarian foods. It may be eaten daily. Lean white meat like chicken and turkey rank next. Red meat should be avoided or eaten rarely. Should you want to, then have not more than twice or three times a week.

• What not to choose: Always buy fresh meat. Avoid or restrict processed and canned meats. This includes sausages, canned fish, burgers, salami, ham, etc.

• Fat from the meat: All visible fat and skin from meat and poultry should be removed before cooking so that the fat will fall off due to the heat of cooking. On the contrary, the fat of fish is healthy. The fattier the fish, the healthier it is. Fatty fish like sardines can actually be cooked in its own fat.

• Cooking methods: Pan-grill fish and keep basting it with its own fat. Make curries with minimum oil. Steam, bake, or stew. Do not deep fry fish, meat or poultry. This process makes all meats unhealthy. Grilling on direct fire as in barbequing is not a healthy method on a regular basis. Partially cook the meats and then grill or fry only to brown it.

• Combining with other foods: A plate of fish and chips is not a healthy combo. Never forget to eat your vegetables and fruits while eating a non vegetarian meal. The vitamins in the plant foods help the absorption of the minerals like iron in the meats. The antioxidants in the fruits and vegetables reduce the ill effects whatsoever of eating meats. Also, when one eats lots of fresh salad vegetables and fruits along with the meal, one will tend to eat lesser portions of meat.

• Portions: Be it any kind of meat, fish or poultry, 60 to 90 grams per day is a healthy amount for the average population to have, depending on one’s age and calorie needs. In certain medical conditions though, like kidney diseases and high uric acid the quantity may need to be reduced or totally avoided. Other diseases like severe anaemia, tuberculosis, may require you to eat more.

Ind Vs Sl: Dhammika Prasad incident fires up Ishant!

With just a day left in the India-Sri Lanka series, there's still no love lost between the sub-continent neighbours.

India's pace spearhead Ishant Sharma was involved in a heated exchange of words with counterpart Dhammika Prasad at the fag end of the second innings before the visitors set Lanka a stiff target of 386 runs in the series decider.

Fired up by the incident, Ishant dented Lanka early, reducing the hosts to 67/3 at stumps on Day 4.

Lankan fast bowler Dhammika Prasad directed a flurry of bouncers at the lanky Indian pacer.

And Ishant had something 'interesting' to say to the Lankan fast bowler that triggered the exchange.

More glares from the bowler and Ashwin went up to have a word with Ishant.

The umpires had to intervene and separate the two.

Umpire Llong had a long chat with skippper Angelo Mathews.

Dhammika definitely lost his cool there, what did Ishant tell to make the bowler to lose his cool?

Chasing 386 in their first Test since batting great Kumar Sangakkara retired, Sri Lanka lost opener Upul Tharanga in the first over and were reeling at 67-3 at the close.

Sri Lanka wobbled early in their chase with Ishant Sharma dismissing Tharanga before Umesh Yadav sent back Dimuth Karunaratne -- both caught by wicketkeeper Naman Ojha for nought.

Opener Kaushal Silva (24) and skipper Angelo Mathews (22) were at the crease with the hosts still needing 319 runs for an improbable victory.

Ishant, who had an animated altercation with Prasad earlier in the day, also dismissed Dinesh Chandimal before giving the batsman a send-off, an act that earned him a 65 percent match fee fine in the first Test.

Earlier, a string of middle and lower order cameos guided India to 274/10 in their second innings on the penultimate day of the third and final Test against Sri Lanka on Monday.

Resuming day four on a precarious 21-3 in the bowler-dominated weather-hit contest, India lost two wickets before lunch and three afterwards but scored freely after the break at the Sinhalese Sports Club.

Dhammika Prasad bowled with characteristic hostility in the morning session.

But it was Nuwan Pradeep who drew first blood, dismissing Virat Kohli (21) who once again succumbed to his penchant for pushing at deliveries outside the off-stump.

Rohit Sharma (50), who brought up India's 50 with a streaky boundary through the vacant third slip, looked more convincing when he hit Pradeep for back-to-back boundaries and needed 71 balls to bring up his fourth Test fifty.

The right-hander fell soon after, however, pulling a short Prasad delivery to fine leg.

Stuart Binny (49) came up with a more eventful knock, the all-rounder playing some risky shots, surviving a stumping opportunity, being hit on the helmet by a Prasad delivery and eventually falling agonisingly short of what could have been only his second Test fifty.

Binny hit seven boundaries in his entertaining knock that hurt Sri Lanka badly.
Even after his dismissal, debutant Naman Ojha (35), Mishra (39) and Ashwin (58) batted resolutely to frustrate Sri Lanka.

The match was locked goalless till 77 minutes, then two goals from Messi and one from Neymar secured a spectacular 3-0 win for Barcelona at their home ground.

Usain Bolt floored by cameraman after sprint sweep!

Turns out, only a man on wheels can take down Usain Bolt.

Shortly after the Jamaican great won a fourth 200-meter title and a 10th gold overall at the world championships, a cameraman on a two-wheel vehicle banged into Bolt from behind.

Suddenly, the Olympic champion was down on his back, flipping over before getting back on his feet and then briefly holding his left leg.

After regaining his composure, he walked back to the cameraman to make sure he was OK, too.
'It took me out pretty well,' Bolt said. 'But I'm OK. No issues so I'm happy about it.'

The unrivaled Jamaican outran Justin Gatlin again on Thursday in another sprint showdown.

After bursting through the bend and powering down the finishing straight with no one close, Bolt had time to look left for Gatlin's red jersey.

With nothing in sight, Bolt lifted both arms and punched his thumbs into his chest to show once again he is the greatest sprinter of all time.

'There was no doubt,' Bolt said after winning his fourth 200 world title in a row to add to two Olympic titles. 'I told you guys that I would do it.'

He capped his performance with his trademark 'Lightning Bolt' pose. After two years of doubt and worries that age had started to affect the bearded champion at 29, he again displayed the wide grin of a teenager.

With the clock reading 19.55 seconds, Bolt set the best time of the season.

And despite slowing down, he still beat Gatlin by .19 — much more than the .01-second edge Bolt had in Sunday's 100 final.

This season was supposed to be Gatlin's best chance to challenge Bolt and despite the best times of his career at 33, he still came up short when it counted.

'I am the oldest man in the field and still running,' Gatlin said. 'Running pretty well.'

Bolt is now 2-0 in Beijing against Gatlin, who had been unbeaten in two seasons, with only the 4x100 relay to come on Saturday.

Once he sat down to savor his victory on a trackside chair, the American came over to congratulate Bolt and the two rivals shook hands and chatted.

Seven years ago, Bolt started his amazing run of gold at the Beijing Olympics and has not lost a major 200 race since. The Jamaican, however, had been struggling with injury since winning his third straight 200 title at the 2013 world championships in Moscow.

Behind Gatlin, Anaso Jobodwana won bronze with a South African record of 19.87.

World Athletics Championships: Usain Bolt beats Justin Gatlin in 200m final!

Usain Bolt sealed another world championship double sprint gold with a dominant victory over Justin Gatlin who took silver. Bolt ran the fastest time of the year in 19.55 secs to win the world 200 metres title for a record fourth time.

It had to be, didn’t it? Bolt came off the bend with the edge over Gatlin, straightened up and suddenly the legs extend, reaching out towards double world championship gold. Again. Bolt was way clear of Gatlin in 19.74secs. Jobodwana of  South Africa took the bronze.

Champions League: Rooney runs riot to seal berth!

Manchester United ended their one-year Champions League hiatus in emphatic style when Wayne Rooney struck a hat-trick in a 4-0 destruction of Club Bruges that sent the three-times winners through 7-1 on aggregate on Wednesday.

Rooney had not scored in almost 900 minutes before United's trip to Belgium but brought his drought to an end when he netted his 30th Champions League goal in the 20th minute.

Running on to a neat Memphis Depay pass into the penalty area, the England international clipped the ball over onrushing goalkeeper Sinan Bolat.

It was Depay's second assist of the tie and he also netted a double in last week's 3-1 first-leg success.
Depay was again involved in the buildup to Rooney's second four minutes after halftime.

The Netherlands forward found Ander Herrera in the penalty area, whose first-time pass across goal set up Rooney for a simple tap-in.

Herrera's Spanish compatriot Juan Mata provided the assist for Rooney's third eight minutes later, as the club captain completed his first treble in Europe since his debut against Fenerbahce in 2004.

Herrera made it 4-0 in the 63rd minute when he collected a Bastian Schweinsteiger pass and slotted home before Javier Hernandez missed from the penalty spot nine minutes from time.

'Obviously, I'm delighted to get the goals but it was a massive game for the club,' Rooney told BT Sport.
'I understand because of who I am I get publicised a lot more. But we knew we had to get into the Champions League, it was vital.'

After failing to qualify for last season's competition for the first time since the 1995-96 season, United are through for the 20th time, equalling the record shared by holders Barcelona, 11-times winners Real Madrid and 2004 champions Porto.

Glorious future ahead.... Check it out!

At home on trains coz it's her apartment!

Cologne (Germany): When others get off the train to go home, Leonie Müller, a German college student, stays behind. That is because she is already home: The train is her apartment, and she says she likes it that way.

Muller gave up her apartment in spring. "It all started with a dispute I had with my landlord," Müller told The Washington Post via e-mail.

"I instantly decided I didn't want to live there anymore and then I realised: Actually, I didn't want to live anywhere anymore."

She bought a subscription that allows her to board every train in the country for free. Now, Müller washes her hair in the train bathroom and writes her college papers while traveling at a speed of up to 190 mph.

She says that she enjoys the liberty she has experienced since she gave up her apartment.

"I really feel at home on trains, and can visit so many more friends and cities. It's like being on vacation all the time," Müller said.

"I read, I write, I look out of the window and I meet nice people all the time. There's always something to do on trains," Müller told German TV station SWR in an interview.

Since risking the move, Müller's life fits into a small backpack in which she carries clothes, her tablet computer, college documents and a sanitary bag.

Financially, she benefits from living on a train: The flat-rate ticket costs her about $380, whereas she had to pay about $450 for her previous apartment. Living cheaper, however, is not the only goal she has in mind.

"I want to inspire people to question their habits and the things they consider to be normal," Müller told The Post. "There are always more opportunities than one thinks there are. The next adventure is waiting just around the corner - provided that you want to find it."

Müller frequently travels late at night, although she tries to sleep at the apartments of relatives or friends. Often, she is accommodated by her boyfriend, her mother or grandmother.

"Normally, we would have to have a long-distance relationship, but living on a train enables me to see him all the time," Müller told German TV station SWR regarding her boyfriend.

She is documenting the unusual experiment on a blog. Her final undergraduate paper will be based on her experiences as a modern train-nomad.
