Include these 9 food in your diet for keeping your eyes healthy!

In present times, even very young people are spotted with glasses. The main reason behind the problem of poor eyesight is inadequate diet and excessive stress on the eyes. Kids today are more often than not glued to the laptops, tablets or smartphones. The demanding and competitive educational scenario forces them to be upgraded with current happening and modern technology. They are so busy in their so called modern lifestyle that they don’t even go out in fresh air to play. So in such a situation the only way to maintain healthy eyes is to eat right. Nature has provided us with ample options to keep ourselves physically fit.
Carrot – Carrot is the first thing that is to be suggested when it comes to healthy eyes. Carrot’s orange color owes to the presence of Beta-carotene in it. Bta-Carotene is a type of Vitamin A that helps retina as well as other parts of the body to function efficiently.
Green Leafy Vegetables – The green and leafy vegetables such as avocados, spinach, broccoli, kale, peas and collard greens are rich in zeaxanthin and lutein. Zeaxanthin and lutein are the antioxidants that decrease the pace of muscular degradation and prevent cataracts.
Egg Yolk – The yolk of an egg is packed with zinc as well as zeaxanthin and lutein; that reduce the degeneration of eye muscles.
Fish – Fish such as tuna, salmon, mackerel, trout and anchovies is full of omega-3 fatty acids. And this fatty acid has been proved to be helpful in protecting eyes from being dry. They are also said to be rich in DHA. Nutrients present in fish are also responsible for preventing cataracts and eye muscle degeneration.
Dry fruits – Packed with Vitamin E, dry fruits such as almonds, pistachio and walnuts are yet another great options for maintaining healthy eyes. The high Vitamin E content of these dry fruits make them ideal for averting cataracts. They also slow down the muscular degeneration of eyes.
Whole Grains – Whole grain diet contains a low glycemic index that also plays a key role in preventing the decadence of eye muscles. Food items such as whole oats, brown rice, and whole wheat pasta & bread contain Vitamin E, Niacin and Zinc that are very helpful in sustaining healthy eyes.
Berries and Citrus Fruits – Vitamin C is also very important in maintaining the overall health of eyes. Fruits such as berries, oranges, lemon and grapefruit play a key role in the prevention of muscular  deterioration and cataract.
Food rich in carotenoids – The food items that are rich in carotenoids are very helpful in conserving the health of eyes. Eatables such as cantaloupe, strawberries, pumpkin, tomatoes, bell peppers and corn are not only excellent sources of carotenoids but are also rich in vitamins A and C. These food items have proven to be very helpful in sustaining the overall health of eyes.
Seeds of Sunflower – Sunflower seeds are an excellent source of Zinc and Vitamin E, and  Zinc helps in protecting the eyes from the damaging effects of light. Thus, they are very crucial in upholding healthy eyes.
