The National Anti-Doping Agency on Monday cleared wrestler Narsingh Yadav of all doping charges.
The NADA disciplinary panel ruled that Yadav was not guilty of consuming anabolic steroids and that this was a case of sabotage. NADA also added that Yadav was unaware of the banned substance and as such deserves to get the benefit of doubt.
The 26-year-old was one of India’s top medal hopes but a sample collected on June 25 tested positive for traces of a banned anabolic steroid. He also failed his second dope test conducted by the NADA on July 5th. Yadav faced a four-year ban as per the new rules for doping offences.
He is now set to represent India in the 74-kg freestyle wrestling at the Rio Olympics.
